Wolfburn Morven Lightly Peated Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Much of the history of the original Wolfburn distillery has been lost in the mists of time – but one thing we know for sure is that peat was used in the production process. The northern Highlands are home to large wetland areas and even today peat is a source of fuel for many local people. The new expression is named after the highest peak in Caithness – situated relatively near to Thurso, Morven is largely surrounded by peat bogs.
Initially smoky with hints of pineapple and fresh sea air, accompanied by vanilla and oak woodshavings. Floral notes abound, followed by raisins and light spices. Malty flavours open up on the palate, accompanied by heather honey. Rather long. Soft smoke meets hints of ginger. Lovely.
